I now have a public fan page over on facebook, so you can see what’s up and down in my own little artworld - facebook account or no.

Come by and fan me!

why check it out?

Raw cellphone work in progress pics, interact with other people who like Art by Kris Jean, comment on paintings and projects, quick daily quips of studio life, keep me motivated, hear about sales first. And a ton of other reasons I can’t think of right now.

(it's easier to quickly upload wip pics there than here, so things are delayed showing up here by a couple days if not more.)

These two paintings are each entered in shows on EBSQ.

These shows both feature the new "Chip-in" app. If anyone has a buck or two to toss into the kitty - that would be great. Chippin' in promotes more competition and incentive for artists to participate. So if you enjoy the art in the shows drop a couple bucks their way. The winning artists can really use the cash in this economy - as art is a luxury for most people.

The big idea is to run dual blogs. I have my LJ but I’m branching out to reach more people, making it easier for fans to find me. (yeah I’m all about me - get over it lol)

The game plan is to have the same posts on both places. That way WordPress peeps can see it here and LJ peeps can see it there. No telling how many this will grow into. LOL. There are soooooooo many blog places out there. But for now we will run with two.

Hello WordPress!

Here is the complete WIP of my painting of Noelle Hunt from start to finish.

I'm not done with the sketch yet. But this is where she is currently.

have to work on jawline, chin (the collar on the right makes her look wider because of the intersection of lines right there so will be reworking that) finish shading lines, and decide if i want to enlarge the finger on the hat.

It's a mesh of two photos.

The face/hat I liked- I didn't like the hand position. The hand position I liked I didn't like the face/hat.

So I Frankensteined these two images:

it's a 9x12 3/4 wrapped canvas and it will be in acrylics

I went through and made all my changes and noticed I missed on (left side of chin/jawline - will get that later)

I'm going to start lines tomorrow hopefully. I would really like this to make it in time for the show.

Here are the changes:

and my inspiration/vibe for this painting (not gonna be in this style though)

Progress so far............no where near done, and lots to go and lots to tweak.

Here is where she is after about 4+ hours painting today.

I still have to shade the left side of her jacket and put more layers of paint on the shaded parts of her fingers , and the shaded part of the band on the hat - then work some mojo on the background.

Then the fun will start - Line-ing! all the lines currently there are the starter lines so it looks a lil weird and rough.

I'm hoping to get this done by :Midnight tomorrow but it will all hinge on the lines and getting a good photo.

*crossing fingers*

Here is where I am currently background mojo on - though i have to straighten it up a tad.

sowee for wonky angle - makes things look a lil outta whack.

then lines.....tons and tons of lines lol

Don't forget to vote in the EBSQ portrait swap!!! This is the first year votes are actually gonna be tallied for it.

after a hiatus, I'm back.

It was a troubling time. Since I started painting I've not pulled away from art. This was the first time when that didn't even sooth me. Things got a lil whacked out but luckily I didn't misbehave (thank goodness) I just shut down and shut out everyone close to me.

so I've been working my way back and have picked up more duties over at EBSQ. I'm the mod of the EBSQ-Etsy street team, and do the blog entries and showcases. (I will be re-posting a showcase shortly on my own blog)

I did my first painting in a while. It was an EBSQ portrait swap, with the loverly Noelle Hunt. I will post WIP pics next.

I have to find my beat again.

The drum beat is out of time. (time after time) ;)

so bear with me as I refocus, and go manic on your asses once again.
